Please display your flag to honor our veterans and their sacrifices for our great nation! Monday May 28th begins with an observance program at 10:00 AM at the Chatham Memorial Hall.
The Veterans Roll Call (reading the names of deceased Chatham Veterans) will take place in the Hall this year, making it easier for
all to hear and allows for many to be seated. Our Featured speaker will be Lieutenant James Harris.
James grew up in Rootstown, OH. After graduating from the University of Akron, he joined the Army and
was commissioned as a Field Artillery officer after attending Officer Candidate School. He served from
July 2007 to Jan 2011. Most of his service was spent as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division where
he deployed to Afghanistan with the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. After his military service, James earned
a Master's degree from Kent State and has spent the last 4 years as a Social Studies teacher at Buckeye High School.
He is married to his wife, Alexandra, and has two young boys, Gideon and Milo.
Following the program, all are welcome to take part in the parade which forms for a procession to the cemetery,
then to the Veterans Memorial Monument at center of town before returning to the Memorial Hall. A wagon shuttle and some vehicles will
be available for those unable to walk the distance.
